This all started because of an article by Drew McLellan back in 2005 for 24ways.org titled: Edit-In-Place with Ajax. That lead to the original version of Edit In Place in mid-2006. A few more releases were made to fix bugs and add features, the last one from my blog being version 0.3.3.
That is were things sat for awhile. I did eventually do a complete re-write based on 0.3.3 that made more use of Prototype JS specific functionality. I was still seeing a fair bit of interest in the Edit In Place library so it was time to put up a dedicated site and forums. That it how version 0.5.0 and this site came about.
